KOTA KINABALU – PMB Investment Berhad continues its agenda of empowering human capital development by establishing a collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) for the Shariah Financial Entrepreneurship Programme.
The collaboration was formalized between PMB Investment and two UMS entities — the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language Learning (PPIB) and the Career and Alumni Centre (PKA) — in a ceremony held at the Executive Meeting Room, UMS Student Affairs Department, yesterday.
PMB Investment was represented by its Head of Strategic Sales, Mahani Ibrahim, who signed the collaboration documents. Representing PPIB was its Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Lai Yew Meng, while PKA was represented by its Director, Associate Professor Dr. Soon Singh A/L Bikar Singh.
According to the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Pelaburan MARA, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, PMB Investment aims to expose graduates to career opportunities in Shariah financial entrepreneurship or as Unit Trust Consultants.
“Graduates will be trained and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills by industry experts to become professional Unit Trust Consultants,” he said.
“This collaboration will add value to UMS graduates while expanding their career and business opportunities in the field of Shariah-compliant investment and finance,” he added.
He also stated that PMB Investment intends to forge similar collaborations with more local universities, both public and private, following UMS becoming the first university to establish such a partnership.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Raman Noordin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) of UMS, said during his speech that the partnership aligns with several of UMS’s goals.
“Among them are training, upskilling, and producing skilled trainees in Shariah finance to support the learning process,” he said.
“And for those qualified, graduates may be offered part-time or full-time employment as Unit Trust Consultants,” added Dr. Raman.
Also present at the event was the Acting Chief Operating Officer of Pelaburan MARA, Mohd Adzhar Abd Hamed.
