KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Mac 2026 - PMB Sustainable has formalised a collaboration with ISRA Consulting Sdn Bhd (ISRA), the Shariah advisory and consultancy arm of Universiti INCEIF which was established by Bank Negara Malaysia.
ISRA is a globally recognised research, advisory and consultancy institution in Islamic finance, with expertise in the development of frameworks, standards and Shariah advisory relating to Islamic financial instruments and markets.
This collaboration aims to explore the development of a Shariah compliance and certification framework for the generation, ownership and trading of carbon credits in Malaysia.
The Letter of Intent exchange session was represented by ISRA’s Principal Consultant for Shariah Advisory, Mr Bahroddin Badri, and the Chief Executive Officer of PMB Sustainable, Mr Najmi Mohamed. The ceremony was held at Bangunan MARA and was witnessed by the Director General of MARA, Datuk Zulfikri Osman.
Also present were the Deputy Director General (Entrepreneurship) of MARA, Mr Zahari Aziz; Senior Director (Investment), Dr Azmi Murjan; Group Chief Executive Officer of MARA Corporation, Mr Yahaya Sani; and Group Chief Executive Officer of Pelaburan MARA Berhad, Mr Mahdzir Othman.
Through this strategic collaboration between ISRA and PMB Sustainable, MARA aims to lead the development of Malaysia’s first Shariah-compliant carbon credit market, with the potential to serve as a global reference model.
