PRESS RELEASE
PMB Investment Berhad (PMB Investment), a member of the MARA Investment Group, today launched the PMB–An-Nur Waqf Income Fund (PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund), a mixed fund under its management.
The launch event was officiated by the Minister of Rural Development, Datuk Dr. Abdul Latiff Ahmad.
Speaking at the press conference, Mahani Ibrahim, Acting Chief Executive Officer of PMB Investment, stated that the PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund, which is PMB Investment's 17th fund, offers investors the opportunity to earn profits while also contributing to charitable causes. "The PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund is ideal for those seeking opportunities to make charitable contributions, even with a small capital, while also gaining returns from their investments. This Shariah-compliant investment fund carries a moderate risk level and seeks investments that can provide stable returns over the medium to long term," she added.
The fund will invest in Shariah-compliant securities listed on Bursa Malaysia, focusing on stable companies with a growth potential of over 2 percent annually, sukuk, and money market instruments as part of its investment strategy.
Offered at a unit price of RM0.50, the PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund also provides free takaful protection for eligible investors. According to Mahani, an investment of RM1,000 in the PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund entitles the investor to protection, with a maximum coverage of RM200,000. The minimum investment for retail investors is RM100, and RM10,000 for corporate or institutional investors.
The PMB An-Nur Waqf Fund will distribute annual income (if any), with 30 percent allocated for waqf purposes and 70 percent reinvested in the form of units.
PMB Investment is collaborating with Waqaf An-Nur, an institution that manages various activities arising from waqf contributions received across the country. Haji Bukhari Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Waqaf An-Nur, said, "PMB An-Nur Waqf is an innovative waqf initiative that is expected to attract more people to contribute to waqf. Through every investment in this fund, the public is indirectly making waqf with Waqaf An-Nur, as the income distribution received not only provides returns to the investors but also contributes to Waqaf An-Nur."
Bukhari added, "Waqaf An-Nur will use the waqf income distribution to purchase Shariah-compliant stocks to further nurture waqf contributions. The proceeds from these stocks will be channeled for the continuous benefit of the community."
Also present at the launch event were Datuk Azhar Abdul Manaf, Director General of MARA, Datuk Azrulnizam Abdul Aziz, Chairman of MARA Investment Berhad, and Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, President and Chief Executive Officer of Johor Corporation, who is also the Chairman of Waqaf An-Nur Corporation.
Mahani stated that PMB Investment is confident that with its experience and expertise in investment management, it will be able to deliver a reasonable performance and return in the future.
“PMB Investment aims to reach RM50 million in investments by the end of next year. This confidence is based on the performance of funds managed by PMB Investment, as well as the various marketing and promotional activities that have been and are being actively planned,” added Mahani.
PMB Investment Berhad is a pioneer in unit trust management in Malaysia with over five decades of experience in unit trust and portfolio management. An Islamic Fund Management Company (IFMC), it manages 17 unit trust funds, wholesale funds, and several portfolio mandates with investments in asset classes such as equities and sukuk.
